Erik Rosenius, bass, is currently based in Stockholm, Sweden. He has been a member of the soloist ensemble at the Gothenburg Opera, Sweden 2021-2022 and a member of the International Opera Studio at Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin, 2018-2020. He is also part of Barbara Hannigans collaboration project Equilibrium Young Artists.
Erik started singing in the Stockholm Boys’ Choir at the age of 8, and studied at the renowned choir school Adolf Fredriks Musikklasser. Since 2014, he holds a bachelor degree in classical singing from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and in 2017 he graduated from the University College of Opera in Stockholm.
During the last years, he has been singing in performances like Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (Nachtwächter), conducted by Daniel Barenboim, Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier (Polizeikommissar) under Zubin Mehta at Staatsoper Unter den Linden and Puccini’s Tosca (Angelotti) under Ramón Tebar at the Gothenburg Opera. He also sang in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress (Father Trulove), conducted by Barbara Hannigan in Gothenburg and on a European tour. He was singing at the Royal Opera in Stockholm during the last autumn in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos (Truffaldin) under Alan Gilbert and is returning this spring in Strauss’ Salome (Fünfter Jude) under the same conductor.
During the last summers he has been singing in Opera Warbergs productions such as Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Osmin) 2018 and Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Masetto/Commendatore) 2021. He has also been singing at Läckö Slott, a place he returns to in the summer of 2023 to sing Verdi’s Macbeth (Banco).
He won the 2nd prize in Hjördis Schymberg Award 2018. Erik is often hired for oratorios and has received scholarships such as The Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm Scholarship, the Gothenburg Opera Scholarship and the Royal Opera in Stockholm Scholarship.
